Dick Gore receives his 50 year long service presentation from site owner Mr W J Bridge.

'The long service medal of the National Institute of Clayworkers has been awarded to Mr R Gore of New Lane who has been employed at Bridge's Brickworks for over 50 years. County Alderman W J Bridge, the principle of the firm, in making the presentation in the presence of all the employees, remaked that this was the third occasion upon which an emp...loyee of the firm had qualified for the medal.' The 'navvy', a steam powered crane, was used to scoop out clay in the nearby quarry to be used as raw ingredients for bricks.
