Welcome to the 'Images of Burscough and Surrounding Areas' website, which also includes a dedicated section on the former Royal Naval Air Station at Burscough, H.M.S Ringtail.

The motto of this website is...."Keeping the Past Alive".

The Website aims to build on the popularity of the Facebook pages that carry the same name.

Few villages can lay claim to such a diverse and interesting history as Burscough, few can claim such an influential role in the industrial development of the county over the past few hundred years. There was a military presence from c1890 with the Army Ordnance Stores (REME Depot), Lathom Park Remount Depot and HMS Ringtail.  The village and its surrounding areas have a rich heritage that at first may not be apparent.

It is only when you speak to local people or research the heritage of the area that the stories and pictures begin to paint a picture of the past that in turn makes the place we know today.

The village of Burscough is situated on the A59 trunk road midway between Liverpool and Preston in the District of West Lancashire.

Please take a look at around the website via the menus and the Facebook pages and please contact us if you have any information or photos that may be of interest to the archive, or maybe we can just help in some other way.
